Replaces one of the daily huddles. It is typically 60 to 90 minutes in length. It reviews the scorecard in depth, discusses any performance issues, allows for execution issues to be raised an explored in some depth and allows for tracking of quarterly initiatives.
As the leadership team matures and operational execution becomes more disciplined, shifting from weekly leadership meetings to twice a month cadence can improve efficiency while maintaining alignment. Instead of meeting every week, the team can adopt a structured “major/minor” meeting rhythm, where one meeting each month is a quick check-in, and the other is a deeper, more substantive review.
- Quick Check Meeting (Minor) – This is a streamlined, 30–45-minute meeting focused on immediate priorities, quick status updates, and addressing any pressing issues. The goal is to maintain visibility and alignment without overloading schedules.
- Monthly Review Meeting (Major) – This is a full-depth review of key metrics, progress against initiatives, and a discussion of any emerging strategic or operational challenges. This meeting allows time for data-driven decision-making, course corrections, and planning for the next month’s priorities.
For larger leadership teams, this approach prevents meeting fatigue while still maintaining necessary oversight and accountability. It also ensures that valuable meeting time is spent on meaningful discussions rather than routine status updates, allowing leaders to focus on execution in the interim.
